From Plans to Keys: Welcoming a Family Home to Their Saba 260

There’s a moment at the end of each build that we never get tired of. The keys change hands, the front door opens, and a family steps into the home they’ve been picturing for months, sometimes years.

Not long ago, one of our families had that moment. Their block was an empty patch of land when we started, and today it’s a lived in home, already filling up with the little things that turn a house into somewhere you belong.

Building With Mimosa Homes

Building a new home is a big, exciting step, and what most people tell us they want is to feel looked after along the way. That’s what we aim for as a Melbourne home builder. From the first conversation, we want you to feel heard, whether you’re after room for a growing family, a layout that suits the way you live, or a home that’s kinder to the environment.

The family wrote: “Every team member we had along the way was so friendly, open and transparent and we really felt like they understood our needs.” It’s a sentence our whole team is proud to read.

A Team By Your Side, From Start to Finish

From the first meeting to the day of handover, you’ll have people beside you who know your plans and your priorities. It’s a big part of why so many of our customers enjoy the process as much as the result. This family described the experience like this: “On site comms were efficient and high quality, with any issues being addressed in a timely manner.”

Good communication can make a big difference throughout a build, and it’s something we put a lot of care into. From regular updates to on-site conversations, we want you to always know what’s happening and what’s coming next.

Why They Chose the Saba 260

They chose the Saba 260, a four bedroom home built around the way families actually live. The heart of the house is a generous set of central living spaces, with family, dining, rumpus and study areas flowing together around a kitchen with a walk in pantry. Step out to the large alfresco and you’ve got room for warm evenings and weekend barbecues, while the separate lounge at the far end of the house gives everyone a quiet place to relax.

The master suite has a generous ensuite and a big walk in wardrobe, and there’s a proper entrance foyer, plenty of storage and a separate laundry, the sort of practical touches you appreciate more every day you live there. It’s a home that feels considered and a little bit indulgent, with everything a family needs.

A Facade the Whole Street Will Envy

The facade is where a home first introduces itself, and they chose our Eastport Façade to do it. A bold gabled frame in our Monument render wraps the entry, with cladding tucked inside the peak and repeated on the garage door, so the whole front feels tied together. A crisp white (Surfmist) rendered wall and a generous framed window keep it fresh and light, and the glazed front door lets the daylight straight through.

The result is a facade with strong street presence that still feels clean, contemporary and welcoming.

Handover Day and Life in Their New Home

Not long after moving in, the family wrote: “our house looks AMAZING.” A few months on, they sent us a message that made our whole team smile: “We’ve been in the house for a few months now and it’s growing with our little family and taking shape to reflect our lifestyle. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out, and we feel pretty blessed to wake up in such a beautiful home everyday.”

They also mentioned what they love most about the home: “The layout, design choices, reduced carbon footprint … we couldn’t have imagined better.” That last one matters to us, because a home that looks good and lives well should also be lighter on the planet.

Every Mimosa Homes floorplan is designed to achieve a 7 star energy rating and comes with a 3.52kW photovoltaic solar system, so running the home is kinder on both the environment and the budget.

Ready to Start Your Own Building Journey?

Handovers are one of the best parts of our job, and every one is a reminder of why we do it. Thank you to this family for trusting us with your home, and for taking the time to share such kind words afterwards. Their review opened with “If I ever get the chance to build again, it will be with Mimosa and the team,” and we’d be honoured.
